What To Expect In The Upcoming Sneaker Exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum

Brooklyn Museum Sneaker Exhibit Preview 4

The Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto is coming to Brooklyn, sort of. “Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture” will be a big draw for the Brooklyn Museum when it opens up in mid-July, and NYmag recently chatted with exhibit curator Elizabeth Semmelhack to get some insight behind the purpose and inspiration for this incredible collection of footwear. We’re also treated to an exclusive preview of all the sick footwear that we should expect at the exhibit, including original Air Jordans, Converse from the 1940s, Kanye’s collaboration with a high-end luxury brand, and much more. “Out of the Box” is slated to be open to the public on July 10th, so check out the preview below and let us know which of these sneaker relics conjures up emotion and thought in you.
