On August 1991, Jordan Brand and Gatorade came together to release one of the most iconic and influential ads in the history of the industry. As the sports drink’s lone endorser, Jordan was front and center of the brand after leaving Coca Cola and was the primary featured for the beverage. His success did wonders for Gatorade, as it boosted sales in the U.S. and introduced the product to global regions that had no clue what a “sports drink” was.
Today, Jordan Brand officially unveils and announces the release info for the “Be Like Mike” collection; that epic advertisement is honored with a series of inspiring apparel as well as two key footwear selections – the Air Jordan 6 Retro (the shoe worn by the GOAT in the original ad) and the Air Jordan 32 Low. While this official press release doesn’t reveal anything, another Air Jordan 6 in full green suede is also said to release in December in highly limited quantities, as is a set of Air Jordan 1 colorways donning classic Gatorade flavor-derived colorways.
The Air Jordan 6 Retro “Be Like Mike” and Air Jordan 32 Low “Be Like Mike” officially releases on December 16th. The full range of apparel is available now at select retailers such as Nike.com and Finishline.
