The Nike Vapormax Light II Releases This Weekend In “Tuxedo” And “Triple Black”

Nike’s Vapormax Light II was first unveiled in July, and with the new silhouette came a whole new take on Vapormax cushioning technology. Although the shoe was not the first example of the Swoosh Brand combining elements of heritage sneakers with new tech — see the Vapormax Plus and Vapormax 97 among others — it was the first instance of a laceless, high-top hybrid silhouette. Now, nearly two months after it was originally unveiled, the striking new shoe is set to release in two womens-exclusive colorways: a “Tuxedo” and a “Triple Black.”

Both new colorways use a high-collared knit material as the base, while accents arrive via leather overlays drawn from the Air Max Light, a classic 1994 silhouette set to return in 2019. The “Tuxedo” pair calls upon white leather for the abstract-shaped overlays, offering a stark contrast from the black base, while the “Triple Black” keeps things tonal with black overlays providing a stately textured addition to the black base. Both pairs offer a wide and flat black foam midsole — a high-fashion look that wouldn’t be out-of-place on the runway — and a black Vapormax cushioning unit with a see-through black heel and an opaque forefoot. Both of these space-age, ladies-only Vapormax Light IIs are set to arrive on Nike SNKRS September 1st, retailing for $180.
