Ben Felderstein Nike’s Air Max 97 silhouette is inarguably one of the most revered models in the Swoosh Brand’s illustrious history, but it is not exactly the most versatile. Devoid of its participation in Virgil Abloh’s Off-White “The Ten” collection, the formula for the 97 has remained somewhat the same over the last 21 years. However, the Swoosh is now ready to bring a new element to the Speed Bullet Train-inspired NSW classic by way of Tumbled Leather. That luxe hit of leather replaces its normally smooth mudguard done up in a fall-friendly shade of dark red, with teal and grey both taking shape on its customary midfoot racing stripes. On both its medial and lateral side as well as its tongue, the 97’s familiar embroidered Swoosh hit is replaced by a die-cut check, giving this particular iteration a bit more depth.
