New Orleans is nothing if not a city of joy and celebration, so Jordan Brand and Sneaker Politics are teaming up to throw a block party this weekend, complete with the release of a special Air Jordan 1 Low and a capsule co-branded apparel. The shoes are limited to 504 pairs — a nod to NOLA’s area code — and feature a soft sail suede upper, white tongue, gum midsole, and hot pink accents on the outsole, insole, and laces. Black trim arrives on the tongue/collar, and the shoe is completed by Politics’ signature P logo on the lateral heel. The apparel offers a similar color palette of sail, black, white, and pink, featuring co-branded “New Orleans Skateboard Club” tees and hoodies, nylon shorts, and even a special dip-dyed pair of sweatpants in collaboration with Jimmy Gorecki’s JSP.
Although the release of the collaborative kicks and apparel alone is enough motivation to pull up, there’s even more: Politics will also be releasing the Air Jordan 1 SB “Light Bone,” and select pairs of the aforementioned AJ1 Lows will contain a “golden ticket,” enabling a lucky few customers to receive a guaranteed pair of the Travis Scott Air Jordan 1s on Saturday. There’s also live music, headlined by a set from Big Easy legend Mannie Fresh, food, and skate ramps/obstacles, so brave attendees can skate in their new kicks if they chose. Get a look at the collaborative creations below, check the Sneaker Politics website for more info on the event and following afterparty, and be sure to stop by on Friday, May 10th, from 5-8 PM if you’re in the area.
