A Familiar “Infrared” Colorway Appears On The Nike Air Max 97

With the AM90 getting much of the love these days, it’s surely leaving adjacent models feeling left out, but the Air Max 97 — in what is effectively a display of heartfelt mimicry — is joining the anniversary-centered conversation with its own “Infrared” homage. Dressed to the likeness of the OG, every one of the discernible pieces in the palette make an appearance here, only their order is modified to better suit the layered upper. Grey hits seat the lower half rather than the top, outfitting the smooth leathers and its surroundings mostly in color. Black makes its way in seldom — using the linings, the upmost side strip, and pull tabs to show face — while the titular hue seems to take a backseat by way of middling segments along the profile, the inners of the air bubble, and the soft detailing that outlines the lace unit.
