Jovani Hernandez It’s no secret that sports are an integral part to adidas, a company founded with one mission: To provide the best athletes with the best equipment. And while the German institution has successfully carried out this goal on its own, the adidas Consortium program has also allowed it to tap various brands across the world to execute its mission. Extra Butter, an NYC-based boutique familiar with notable collaborations, is adidas’ latest collaborator.
Previously, the two brands came together for an alphaBOUNCE and accompanying pop-up space, as well as a ZX Flux. Their next joint-effort, however, nods to tennis’ heritage aesthetic for a “Cableknit” capsule, which includes the SC Premiere alongside Adilette Slides and apparel. Both footwear products keep their general silhouettes intact, but are elevated with Extra Butter’s input.
The Premiere, which comes in either “Navy” or “White,” forgoes its standard medial windows to highlight the tennis sweater-like Primeknit interwoven throughout its uppers. Additionally, the layered design also boasts prep-colored jacquard heel stripes, “Metallic Gold” hardware across the tongue and laces and new Extra Butter branding at the heel collar. While arguably overshadowed by the SC Premiere, the Adilette Slides also enjoy some upgrades as their molded straps are replaced with cable knit and jacquard striping. Heels also feature debased co-branding.
Extra Butter’s adidas Consortium “Cableknit” capsule launches exclusively at ExtraButter.com on April 21st. Both pairs of the SC Premiere are priced at $130 USD and come in Men’s sizes US 4-13.
