adidas And Allbirds Team Up In Efforts To Create Zero Carbon Emission Shoe

Creating sustainable products has been an overarching ethos for the adidas imprint since they made the pledge to solely use recycled plastic by the year 2024. We’ve seen their efforts mostly emphasized within their ongoing collaborations with Parley, but now they’re looking to further advance their initiatives by giving it their best shot at eliminating carbon footprints. Based on their statistics, they’ve found that the footwear industry currently emits 700M metric tons of carbon dioxide annually, which is equivalent to the energy use of 80,775,444 homes per year. From production to shipping, astronomical amounts of Greenhouse gases are released; eventually contributing to the rapid changes present within our climate.

So how are they going to help? In rather unexpected fashion, the Three Stripes is joining hands with New Zealand-based footwear company Allbirds to craft a performance shoe with zero carbon emissions. By doing so, they not only hope to set a new standard in creating environmental-friendly sneakers, but also serve as an inspirational example for other brands to fight for carbon neutrality.

For more information, you can view adidas’ official statement here.

Elsewhere under the Three Stripes umbrella, peep a first look at the Yeezy 350 Abez.
