Jovani Hernandez Unveiled in March, the ASICS GEL-Lyte XXX has kept relatively busy with in-line releases, several of them paying homage to the GEL-Lyte III‘s heritage. For its latest ensemble, however, the futuristic silhouette has given the reins to Tokyo-based artist sneakerwolf for a “Welcome Tokyo” capsule.
As with most of ASICS‘ Japan-inspired releases throughout 2020, the newly-launched pair features a red, blue, and white color palette. The GEL-Lyte XXX pictured below dips its premium suede and leather upper in a rich scarlet hue reminiscent of the country’s flag. Unlike the silhouette’s standard edition, sneakerwolf’s take includes mesh profile windows, as well as semi-translucent detailing on the tongue. “SWOLF” branding makes its way onto the sneaker’s leather pull tab at the heel, which sits just above two Kanji characters. Inherently eye-catching, sole units further indulge in the red tone, but arguably make their loudest statement with the shimmering gold finish given to their protruding heel clip.
