Elliot Santiago New Balance has been on an absolute tear with their collaborations this year, and if there’s any reoccurring patterns to point out, it’s that the silhouettes of the 992 and the 327 continue to be pushed to the frontlines. The latter, after being reimagined by ARIES and STAUD, is now being filtered through New York City’s very own Public School imprint.
Color-wise, the pair is seen here outfitted with with a blend of dark base layers and brighter-hued surrounding accents. A deep navy blue coats the backdrops and forefoot overlays, while nurse scrub green touches apply to the “N” logos and treading, in addition a bright grey tone that swathes the heel’s suede paneling. Furthermore, the phrase “We Need Leaders” is a motto present in areas such as the co-branded tongues and medial walls where it is spelled out entirely, as well as the lateral heels where it is tonally embossed into the lateral heels in acronym format. If you peak at Public School’s IG, you’ll find that one of their most recent posts displays a picture of these shoes with the accompanying caption “These our voting kicks”, essentially confirming their emphasis of the importance of voting in the right candidate for this upcoming 2020 US election.
