Jovani Hernandez First teased in January during Paris Fashion Week, the sacai x Nike VaporWaffle is slated to debut in Europe on November 6th and in North America on November 13th in two colorways: “Sail” and “Black.”
While not a complete departure from last year’s LDWaffle, which is widely regarded as 2019’s best sneaker, the forthcoming collaborative silhouette proposes a noticeably different design. A layered aesthetic prevails throughout the highly-breathable model, but in a less streamlined aesthetic. Yet, like its predecessor, the VaporWaffle blends heritage with modern-day sensibilities: sole units (seemingly fragmented) fuse the Pegasus trainer from 1983 with the game-changing VaporFly NEXT% seen throughout 2019. Chitose Abe’s layered design approach further nods to the silhouette’s hybrid nature, as lateral profile swooshes, tongues and laces all join the mix twice.
