Michael Le Ending the year in celebration, Extra Butter presents their expansive “Tomcat” collection, a wide-reaching capsule that incorporates not only the ASICS footwear leaked prior but also some militarized G-Shocks and patch-adorned Alpha Industries bombers.
A tribute to fighter jets at its core, the capsule dresses every one of the aforementioned releases in the same inspiration, though what they achieve is entirely distinct. Among the set, the upcoming GEL-Kayano V is arguably the most creative in its interpretation, reminding quickly of its muse through a metal-esque Steel Blue coloring. Elsewhere, the tongue and lace unit are entirely modified, the former inflated and reminiscent of a cockpit while the latter tightly fastens by way of lowered eye stays. And alongside the robust ballistic nylon and leather construction, the pair is emblazoned with graphic callbacks to aircraft markings.
In departure, the Alpha Industries MA-1 retains its typical look: olive green body, darker elastic hem and cuffs, and the classic orange lining. But what sets it apart is the patches dressed onto the arms and chest, each a custom design that blends traditional aviation motifs with Extra Butter’s own aesthetic. The G-Shock GM5600 is also similar in such a regard as the usual features are overshadowed by various printed overlays.
Alongside some private label apparel, the “Tomcat” collection will be available at Extra Butter retail locations on December 16th. An online launch via ExtraButterNY.com and the mobile app will follow on December 18th.
