Since linking up with adidas, atmos has crafted an extensive number of bold releases. With their latest collaborative capsule, the sneaker imprint is taking their signature, eccentric approach and lensing it through the age-old Japanese tradition of Setsubun.
Otherwise known as the bean-throwing festival, Setsubun literally translates to “Seasonal Division,” referring to the day just before the first of the season. Here, the annual holiday informs much of both the ZX 8000‘s and the ZX 2K Boost’s designs, with the former coming out on top in terms of color. Reds, blues, and greens weave its entire underlayer, each referring to one specific demon. Elsewhere, complementing hits of suede overlay atop and laces fasten in two-toned rope, while the collar pieces together tiger patterns, fortunes, and a toon-like portrayal of the aforementioned mythical figures.
In stark departure, the ZX 2K Boost is subtle, understated in its black dominant make-up. The base, suede layers, and much of the forefoot is shaded as such, balancing out the multicolored wovens that dress both the instep as well as the heel. Tiger patterns make a return once again, nodding to the demons in tandem with the earing-like accessory at the heel, the fangs at the sole, and the face built into the tongue’s branding.
Grab a detailed look at the capsule here and expect raffle winners to hear back on February 2nd.
In other news, an adidas 4D Fusio Semi Frozen Yellow has just appeared.
