Whether or not your everyday white sneaker of choice is the adidas Stan Smith, it’s hard to deny the impact of the tennis shoe. While the pair is often recognized for its OG Fairway Green accents and Stan Smith’s portrait on the heel tab, adidas playfully displaces the image of the tennis player’s face for a new offering.
The pair starts with a familiar smooth, white base that is constructed of Primegreen—the brand’s eco-friendly alternative to leather. Its sustainability efforts are further embraced by the insoles, which are covered by a cork texture, followed by Primegreen branding printed atop. Rather than the signature green accents, the new arrangement flaunts a black heel tab and black logos on the tongue label. But the defining detail is the empty frame on the tongue label, which is uncharacteristically void of Stan Smith’s face. His portrait is instead printed on the hindfoot of the lateral side, finishing off the minimalist yet fun design.
The pair will be available at select retailers such as the European retailer Asphaltgold on March 25th. adidas fans elsewhere will have to stay tuned for an adidas.com drop.
In other Three Stripes-related news, Pharrell’s adidas Superstar Primeknit will be arriving in two color options.
