With the unwavering popularity of gaming, the former subculture has made it into the mainstream and other industries have been taking note. Nike has been at the forefront of crisscrossing footwear with gaming via a collaboration with League of Legends and the “Have A Good Game” pack. The Swoosh has even continued to apply video graphics-inspired details onto a handful of standalone releases, such as this 8-bit-informed Air Force 1.
The pair sees a smooth black leather base that is sharply contrasted by the white rubber sole unit. Gaming graphics start with the warm-toned iridescent side Swoosh, which ditches its clean lines for jagged edges inspired by videos of 8-bit depth. These “glitches” continue onto the heel tab and tongue label, where distorted branding sits atop of holographic vinyl. Staying true to the 8-bit theme, the design is complete with black insoles that have the glitched Nike Air logo printed in white.
