Mayumi Yamase, a multi-faceted artist based in Tokyo, Japan, is taking her talents over to Nike, providing the brand an inimitable sense of color and brush. Her work, which delves in both 2D and 3D mediums, lends perfectly to the Air Force 1, which is soon to arrive featuring both Yamase’s artwork and a sustainable Flyleather construction.
Revealed as part of a duo earlier in the week, the pair starts with a simple white base, a perfect canvas on which to draw. And Yamase, thanks in part to this, can fully adapt her current style, adding muted, rust brown tones to the lateral Swoosh and nondescript shapes the side opposite. What’s more, thick indigo embroideries accent the latter adjacent, creating subtle yet still noticeable layers of dimension. Branding lenses through identical aesthetics, forgoing their typical refinement for one more reflective of the aforementioned motifs. The sole and box follow suit, though they’re both more replete with the artist’s designs.
