Jovani Hernandez The Nike Air Force 1 Low has previously emerged in forward-thinking outfits, be they proprietary like Foamposite or otherwise like GORE-TEX. For its latest ensemble, Bruce Kilgore’s 39-year-old design has indulged in a predominantly cork construction as part of a yet-to-be-unveiled “Happy Pineapple” collection.
Already boasting a couple of Air Max options, the forthcoming range celebrates the sweet fruit while championing the Swoosh’s sustainability efforts. Yet, no previously-surfaced style has committed to the cork outfit as much as the latest Air Force 1, which only features a few components not built (or at least infused) with the natural material. Profile swooshes and branded heel panels deviate from their surroundings’ color palette in favor of arrangements that nod to the pineapple, but graphics on the tongue directly shoutout the animated fruit.
