Although the Nike Air Max Genome is a new addition to the Max Air family, its mid-2000s inspired design and Nike Air Max 97-reminiscent full-length Air unit strike a sense of familiarity. This is especially so as the silhouette prepares to release a new arrangement that boasts a color palette similar to that of the iconic Nike Air Max 90 “Infrared.”
A mix of greys colors the mesh and leather uppers for an understated base. The most notable feature is the splashes of hot pink that make their way onto the midpanel to imitate the “Infrared” aesthetic. To further make the midpanels pop, a black outline animates the white leather Swoosh on the lateral side. As seen on the AM 90, the Genome also opts for a clean white midsole. Underfoot, a full-length Air unit and black outsole round out the old-meets-new look.

In other Swoosh-related news, an upcoming Nike Blazer Mid ’77 is proving that the model is “standing the test of time.”
