A couple of years removed from what’ll likely be a blockbuster 25th anniversary, the Nike Air Max Plus is ending 2021 with a collection dubbed the “Air Max Running Club.”
Designed with an “AMRC” tab on the lateral profile, the newly-surfaced pair indulges in a vintage-inspired color palette and design cues. A premium mix of mesh and suede make up the entirety of the sneaker’s upper, with the latter material sparingly appearing on Sean McDowell’s 1998-design. TPU overlays atop the breathable base deliver a dark aesthetic contrasted by the slightly-yellowed exposed foam tongue and vibrant orange branding accompaniments, both nods to Swoosh heritage.
Underfoot, sole units feature all aforementioned tones, with the midsole favoring a white arrangement. Tuned Air units at the heel, and Air Max at the forefoot, boasts the pair’s titular “Obsidian” color, with whale tail-shaped mid-foot shanks introducing a New York Knicks-appropriate gradient into the mix. Lastly, tread further nods to Nike Running legacy, while also delivering modern flair.

Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Air Jordan 2 has recently gotten notable attention thanks to Virgil Abloh.
