Jovani Hernandez Although centuries of reckless human-made pollution have resulted in irreversible damage to the planet, some of the most influential companies in the world have pledged commitment to improving – or at least not worsening – the situation. NIKE, Inc.’s “Move to Zero” initiative, which officially debuted in 2019, has been one such plan. For the latest product under that banner, the Swoosh has prepped a Nike Air Force 1 Low made from woven work for its Nike N7 platform.
The 12-year-old N7 Fund has assisted 259 communities and organizations working towards the betterment of the Indigenous Peoples in the United States of America. With the latest sneaker option, which is surely part of a larger Nike Sportswear Collection, the program not only promotes awareness of Indigenous Peoples’ cultures, but also their art forms given the upcoming Air Force 1‘s partly-woven construction. A medley of blues and yellows animate the mostly-tan pair. As one of the most-sustainable offerings to date from the brand, the upper and sole unit feature partial recyclable and up-cycled materials; recycled cork lands on the lace dubraes, sock-liner and outsole.
No official Nike.com release date has been disclosed by the brand, but anticipate a roll-out in the first-half of the new year. In the meantime, enjoy images of the sneakers ahead.
