The adidas ZX 5K Boost hasn’t taken the spotlight away from some of the brand’s other propositions, but it’s gradually becoming yet another compelling example of heritage design and modern-day technology coming together to create something familiar and fresh.
Previously seen in collaboration with Kawasaki, the Boost-cushioned model features paneling reminiscent of the adidas ZX offerings from the late 1980s. Structural overlays around the forefoot, at the mid-foot and along the heel work in-tandem to inject performance-informed design into the lifestyle-oriented model. Breathable mesh and soft suede throughout the upper indulge in shades of the pair’s titular “Screaming Green” hue, which also takes over the semi-translucent midsole. Hits of “Core Black” introduce stark contrast into the mix, appearing most prominently on the ZX-inspired details found on the upper. Partly-visible Boost foam underfoot maintains its standard all-white composition, allowing for the titular green color to revel that much more in the spotlight.
