Jovani Hernandez The adidas ZX 5K Boost hasn’t taken the spotlight away from some of the brand’s other propositions, but it’s gradually becoming yet another compelling example of heritage design and modern-day technology coming together to create something familiar and fresh.
Previously seen in collaboration with Kawasaki, the Boost-cushioned model features paneling reminiscent of the adidas ZX offerings from the late 1980s. Structural overlays around the forefoot, at the mid-foot and along the heel work in-tandem to inject performance-informed design into the lifestyle-oriented model. Breathable mesh and soft suede throughout the upper indulge in shades of the pair’s titular “Screaming Green” hue, which also takes over the semi-translucent midsole. Hits of “Core Black” introduce stark contrast into the mix, appearing most prominently on the ZX-inspired details found on the upper. Partly-visible Boost foam underfoot maintains its standard all-white composition, allowing for the titular green color to revel that much more in the spotlight.
