For those outside of the “community,” sneakers may simply be functional items that shouldn’t be fetching thousands of dollars on any market. To those who’ve been bitten by the “bug,” however, shoes can mean so much more. A newly-surfaced Nike Dunk Low demonstrates the latter group given the positive reminder found on its right sock-liner: “on the bright side.”
Though part of a larger Nike Sportswear collection, the upcoming pair shares very little – aesthetically – with offerings that’ve surfaced over the last year. A speckled black outsole suggests the latest Nike Dunk follows the brand’s sustainability efforts, which the “random” mix of corduroy, suede, nylon and canvas throughout the upper further bolsters. Frayed detailing appears at the mid-foot, heel and spine, accompanying embroidered flower-like patches that scream “springtime.” The “on the bright side” message, then, may refer to the sneakers’ construction, as “trash” was transformed into a wearable, compelling footwear option. Another possibility is that the four-letter statement has been formulated for Valentine’s Day, reminding wearers that there is always a “bright side” to heartbreak. Regardless of the inspiration behind the shoes, the mix of greys and navy that covers much of the latest take on Peter Moore’s 37-year-old design is sure to add yet more fuel to the model’s “moment.”
Enjoy official images of the pair here below, and anticipate a Nike SNKRS launch soon.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Air Jordan 3 is set to launch in a handful of colorways come the first-half of 2022.
