The New Balance 550 quickly become a go-to sneaker for some of the trendiest public figures across social media thanks in part to its association with Aimé Leon Dore. And while the silhouette’s latest ensemble is free of any ALD-branding, it shares Teddy Santis’ affinity for cream-colored midsoles.
Akin to the four styles with which Santis helped reintroduce the once-forgotten New Balance design, the upcoming sneakers indulge in a high quality perforated leather and mesh build across the upper. “550” and “N” branding at the lateral profile forgo a solid “Black” finish, opting instead to don the contrasting tone as a border. Part of the stability clip around the heel, “NB” logos at the spine and smooth leather overlays hugging the collar, however, resemble Aimé Leon Dore’s “White/Black” 550. Shades of off-white cover most of the remaining components on the shoe, leaving their mark most prominently on the midsole. The design choice helps inject a vintage aesthetic to the pair, while helping accentuate the greyscale arrangement that takes over the made-for-basketball tread underfoot.
No stateside NewBalance.com release details have been disclosed by the brand, but several retailers across Asia currently have this two-tone colorway scheduled for a March 12th launch. In any case, enjoy official images of the pair ahead.
