Thanks largely in part to Aime Leon Dore, the 550 has very quickly become one of New Balance’s most beloved silhouettes. And with the New York based streetwear label soon to deliver a new round of Fall colorways, it’s only appropriate that the footwear brand lead up to the collaboration with their own general releases.
Compared to the drove of women’s exclusives as well as the ALD-reminiscent “Cream/Black,” the upcoming “Panda” is a more subtle, versatile offering that could easily rival the same-named Dunk Low. But unlike the latter, the 550 proffers a wider display of black, the shade dressing not just the leather overlays but also the base of the collar, toe, and lace unit. White appears just adjacent, marking only the branding as well as the ankle, while the “N” logo and midsole opt for a vintage-esque finish.
