Alongside Nike, A-COLD-WALL created some of the most divisive footwear of the past few years. Their Zoom Vomero 5, for example, was both ridiculed and praised for its protruding heel piece, and many have gone to the lengths of chopping it off entirely. It wasn’t long after that Samuel Ross, the label’s founder and designer, crossed over to Converse, at which he proposed a few lifestyle silhouettes unlike anything the brand had seen thus far.
And while long since his last collaborative effort with Converse, Ross has found himself at the HQ yet again, tasked with designing his own Aeon Active CX. Introduced back in June of last year, ACW’s take on the silhouette features a stretch bootie, exaggerated heel kick, and a combination of CX and Crater foam. This “Black/Apple Green” make-up swaps out the perforated panels used for the accompanying “Micro Chip/Healing Jade” colorway, replacing it with layers of suede, leather, and what appears to be a Ripstop nylon. What’s more, branding takes a minimal approach, with both parties’ logos sized down along the toe, tongue, profile, and color-blocked midsole.
Accented with subtle pops of green and yellow, this Aeon Active CX is currently set to release on May 12th at Nike SNKRS for a retail of $160 USD.
Elsewhere at Nike, the Swoosh just introduced the Pegasus Turbo Next Nature.
