Many Colorful Layers Make Up The MSCHF Gobstomper “Jimmy Fallon Edition”

Having made rounds across near all facets of social media, it’s more than likely you’ve heard of MSCHF. From creating blurred stacks of dollar bills to billionaire-shaped popsicles, the Brooklyn-based art collective is constantly pumping out one viral stunt after another. Their efforts even span sneakers, and they’ve previously stirred up controversy with their “Satan Shoes” and Old Skool-inspired Wavy Baby kicks.

After a number of lawsuits, it seems MSCHF is now erring on the side of caution with their newest release: the Gobstomper “Jimmy Fallon Edition.” Assuming the role of a would-be skater, Fallon serves as the face for the campaign, which depicts the talk show host mid-bail, planted firmly on the concrete, and happily flaunting the Gobstompers themselves.

MSCHF’s first entirely original design, the Gobstomper draws inspiration from the ever-iconic Gobstopper. Similar to said confection, the shoes are made up of many colorful layers, whose bright shades of red, yellow, and blue are gradually uncovered with wear. Save for the “MSCHF” hit across the heel and the mention/image of Jimmy Fallon along the backside of the tongues, branding is mostly icon-based, with exclamation points marking the tongue while a dismembered foot stamps the heel counter and outsole. Additionally, the sockliner is clad in a multi-colored print that mirrors the core inspiration.
