No season is complete without a contribution from COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS, whose collaborations with Nike often walk down the runway alongside mainline garments. And at the beginning of the year, the Japanese label used Paris Fashion Week to debut two understated colorways of the Air Max 97, the darkest of which has just surfaced via official images.
Whereas prior works — think: the Air Max 95 and Air Force 1 — near completely dismantled their original forms, the upcoming COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS x Nike Air Max 97 opts to pay homage to the groundwork laid by designer Christian Tresser. Here, the construction itself, from the paneling to the materials, is relatively untouched, mirroring the general silhouette of the classic’s prior releases. The leather overlays throughout the upper, however, feature a unique treatment, whose patina is easy to mistake for suede at a cursory glance.
Finished with co-branded insoles, CdG’s latest pair of Nikes is slated to release this Fall/Winter, likely hitting Dover Street Market before a wider, global release.
In other news, the Cactus Plant Flea Market Dunk Low Grinch was also just unveiled in-hand.
