The being formerly known as “Kanye West” might have stolen the sneaker-adjacent headlines of the week, but his adidas Yeezy imprint has maintained relatively quiet in terms of sheer releases. Other players in the space, however, gave savvy and casual consumers alike a lot to look forward to.

Ahead of 2023, which will presumably be important for the Jumpman family, the Air Jordan series emerged in a handful of mock-ups, early samples and confirmed retros. Even the Nike Air Ship surfaced via news of a release run, which is the first concerted effort from NIKE, Inc. since 1984. The similar Air Jordan 1, however, dominated anything related to #23, with all trims of Michael Jordan’s first signature model offering refreshing styles.

On the other side of the conglomerate’s Oregon headquarters, the Swoosh prepped handfuls of Nike Dunk and Nike Air Force 1 pairs to satisfy both anniversary needs and consumer demands. Kevin Durant also unveiled his well-respected KD 15 in an “Aunt Pearl” style, a tradition the Washington D.C.-native has honored since 2012.

Lastly, New Balance continued to demonstrate an impressive strategy of collaboration, story-telling and heritage product, while Zellerfeld further got on peoples’ radars with the help of the first 3D-printed YZY Boot.

For a look at all that and more, check out our top headlines from October 1st to October 7th ahead.
