If there was a short list of people whom had the best 2022, Bad Bunny would certainly be on it. In addition to breaking touring and streaming records, the Puerto Rican superstar expanded his adidas partnership to move more units and do more good. And before January ends, the monumental collaboration is set to drop its first pair of the new year: an adidas Campus Light in “Cloud White.”
At quick glance, the unreleased pair – seen in the artist’s “El Apagón” music video and mini-documentary – appears like a new silhouette from the German sportswear behemoth, but closer inspection reveals design cues rooted in the 1970s and 80s. Hairy suede makes up the entirety of the sneaker’s base layer, with profile 3-Stripes branding interrupting the scheme with their equally muted leather material. Lower heel areas feature a non-standard support overlay reminiscent of the adidas Country and select vintage pairs of the Campus. Real estate around the collar sees plump cushioning à la Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio’a famed Forum Buckle Low.
Other call outs to past work for the German institution include “El Ojo” (“The Eye”) logo, a double tongue, and a layered Achielles’ heel area. The shoe maintains traditional “CAMPUS” branding on the lateral profile, but the the zone just above the “aged” midsole is wrapped in curved TPU foxing for reinforcement and aesthetic purposes. Lastly, the informed-by-basketball traction underfoot stays true to its decades-old blueprint, making the Campus option an adidas Originals product through and through.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, and anticipate an adidas CONFIRMED app launch soon for $150 USD.
