Nike Sportswear’s “Timeless” series is getting wackier as we discover new members of this upcoming collection. The earliest pairs relied on simple colorway swaps, like the infamous “Infrared” from the Air Max 90 being ported over to the Air Huarache, but the highly polarizing Nike Zoom Vomero 5 x Dunk suggested that the Swoosh has a bigger picture in mind.
In comes the Air Max 1 “Timeless”, revealed here via official images. Tinker Hatfield’s iconic runner model receives that classic construction we’ve come to love (not to be confused with the Big Bubble Air Max 1), but now a thick strap sits right across the midfoot, covering the belly of the Swoosh logo on both the lateral and medial sides of the shoes. The heel utilizes that vintage typeface on the NIKE AIR branding, while the toe-box shines with our personal favorite detail of this design — the “sunburst” arrangement of perforations.
The colorway itself is a nod to the original 1982 colorway of Bruce Kilgore’s Air Force 1 High; the shoes last re-issued in an OG-style execution back in 2015 (pictured in the above image).
Nike’s “Timeless” collection is currently expected to drop this Summer 2023 season so stay tuned for updates in availability and other potential sneakers in this grouping.
