Rone — a footwear label created by professional skateboarder Tony Ferguson — shines skate and street influences through a more luxurious lens. And for their first-ever partnership with New Balance Numeric, the brand is reimagining a shoe that’s not wholly their own.
For their efforts away from home, Rone is putting their spin on the signature shoe of Tiago Lemos: the 1010. Though a sizable departure from their own offerings in design, the pair still maintains Ferguson and team’s penchant for minimalism. Underneath the “N” logo and “RONE” branding printed onto the heel, the colorway is kept aesthetically simple. White neutrals are applied to much of the upper — perforated toe box, overlays, lace unit, etc — while greys highlight the aforementioned logos as well as the adjacent trims. Finally, the look is rounded out with a cream midsole, giving the package a somewhat vintage feel.
“I’ve been wearing New Balance forever, and Tiago is one of my favorite skaters, so this project is very special to me,” said Ferguson. “Tiago’s raw talent, power, and style is reminiscent of the ‘90s but with next-level pop. You can tell that he’s inspired by, and is paying homage to, that era while also pushing skating forward. This collaboration feels like a perfect encapsulation of the past, present, and future.”
The Rone x New Balance Tiago Lemos 1010 will be available soon through NewBalance.com, RoneBrand.com, and select retailers at a retail of $180 USD.
