After confusion as to whether or not it was a collaboration with Nigel Sylvester, the Nike Air Ship “Every Game” has gotten a firm release date.
The shoe pays homage to a ritual “His Airness” followed throughout his professional basketball career: put on a “Diffused Blue” pair of shorts from his University of North Carolina days underneath his NBA uniform. Handfuls of photos from the 1990s show Michael Jordan in the knee-length bottoms, but the Chicago Bulls legend also makes reference to the pair within the original Space Jam film.
The Air Jordan 1-look-alike features a predominantly “Summit White” finish across its upper and sole unit. Panels along the tongue and across the collar deviate in a “Chambray” tone; profile swooshes follow suit. “Every Game” is embroidered onto the Achilles’ Heel overlay as a callback to Jordan’s superstitious habit. Midsoles underfoot opt for a “Sail” tinge that helps the “cracked” leather-donning Air Ship further achieve a vintage aesthetic. Lastly, a navy-like hue takes over the beloved traction, rounding out the special makeup of #23’s rookie year choice of footwear.
Enjoy another look at the pair ahead, as you wait for a Nike SNKRS launch on May 10.
