fragment design and its NIKE, Inc. family have been delivering compelling product for more than a decade. Recent history has seen the Japanese imprint trade swoosh and Jumpman logos for star and chevron branding.
Ahead of summer, Hiroshi Fujiwara has lent his fragment label’s signature design cues to the Converse Weapon. A product of the mid-1980s, the Weapon bears close semblance to the Air Jordan 1, a silhouette with which Fujiwara is very familiar. Color-blocking on fragment’s latest collaboration sees “Sport Royal” flair animate the collar and sidewall logos. Panels at the top of the toe and “Y-Bar” at the heel deviate in a pitch “Black” tone that helps Fujiwara recreate his iconic color scheme. Lastly, the Converse Weapon by fragment features “White” leather construction in between, keeping things minimal. Underfoot, the joint-effort opts for a slightly-yellow finish, delivering a vintage aesthetic in the process. Lightning bolt logos are stamped into the lower lateral heel.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, as you wait to secure your size via converse.com on May 11th for $140 USD. An apparel collection – including a wool varsity jacket – will accompany the shoes.
