Concepts And ASICS Once Again Nod To The Boston Tea Party With The GEL-LYTE V “Libertea”

Around 850 years ago, a group of Colonists destroyed an entire British tea shipment at the Boston Harbor, an act of rebellion that would henceforth be dubbed the “Boston Tea Party.” Little did these protestors know that their actions would inspire a pair of sneakers many centuries later.

Originally released in 2015, the Concepts x ASICS GEL-LYTE III “Boston Tea Party” boasted a patriotic colorway, with gold and silver Tiger Stripes affixed to the shoe’s lateral and medial side, respectively. And while the two brands haven’t done much together in the eight years that followed, 2023 marks a long-overdue reunion.

Back together for the 30th anniversary of the GEL-LYTE V, Concepts and ASICS are taking the three-decades-old silhouette and dressing it up in a colorway inspired by the above-mentioned release. Dubbed the “Libertea,” the pair very closely mimics the design of its predecessor, borrowing not only the red, white, and blue palette but also the silver and gold stripes.

Retailing for $150 USD, the Concepts x ASICS GEL-LYTE V “Libertea” is expected to release soon. While we await word of a release date, enjoy a look at the collaborative via the official imagery ahead.
