Over the last four years, Snow Peak and New Balance have delivered innovative, high-quality takes on footwear for the outdoors. The latest example arrives in the form of the Niobium C_3 (Concept 3).
Masters of sustainable, imaginative camping and hiking gear, Snow Peak has yet to see the popularity of fellow Japanese brands throughout the West. Its partnership with New Balance (in particular the company’s Tokyo Design Studio), however, has helped make both its name and simple snowflake-reminiscent logo more recognizable across the U.S. The Niobium Concept 3 delivers a much more rugged proposition than the New Balance C_2, a two-way sandal that debuted throughout Summer 2021. An outer shell delivers waterproof functionality, while also offering protection up to the shins given their height. The model’s inner boot contrasts from the “snowy” white and grey eVent material, boasting a bluish image and all-over pattern that can be worn casually. Underfoot, the modular project features the New Balance MT580‘s traction solution, a tried-and-proven setup sure to deliver performance to the PRIMALOFT®-insulated silhouette design from Snow Peak and New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, and find the collaboration via newbalance.com on January 5th, 2024 for $300 USD.
