Kiko Kostadinov Works His Magic On The Newly Launched ASICS US4-S GEL-Terrain

Updated January 21st, 2024: A second colorway of the ASICS US4-S GEL-Terrain has been revealed. The shoes are designed under the Kiko Kostadinov Studio umbrella and are not considered a direct collaboration with the designer. Currently, a release is confirmed for February 2nd in the APAC region; a US release date is still TBD.

Among the more promising new silhouettes produced under the ASICS Sportstyle vertical is the GEL-Terrain, an amalgam of existing properties whipped together to form an impressive gorp-core themed sneaker. While you can enjoy the new model now (they’re available on ASICS now), it was only a matter of time before the sub-label’s point-man Kiko Kostadinov got his hands on the impressive new model.

Revealed by dedicated fan-page @kikokurative, the Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS GEL-Terrain is revealed with an elaborate colorway, keeping to the shoe’s introductory No-Sew construction. The base chain-mail mesh is exaggered with the white threading against the black base, while a diamond-shaped pattern occurs at the mid-panel where the exterior eye-stays reside. Minor speckling, bordering on a glitter, appears on the exposed GEL cushioning at the heel, while an extended asymmetrical pull-tab sits at the peak of the tongue.

Given how the Bulgarian designer tends to craft his own models, like the upcoming GEL-Novalis Mule, this GEL-Terrain is likely under the Kiko Kostadinov Studio sub-line and not an outright collaboration. Furthermore, there are likely more colorways in production that sport the same modified construction.
