The New Balance WRPD Runner, one of the handful of the brand’s styles introduced in the past year, is adding a new twist to its formula. Clad in an understated navy and white, the model trades in suede for leather for the first time in its young history.
The suede & mesh mix of materials on the first half dozen New Balance WRPD Runner releases almost undercuts the unorthodox design choices of the model compared to mainline NB releases. The new look featured here emphasizes the chunkier, rounded design here, a risk reigned in by the relatively conservative pallete on display. Initially introduced as NB’s take on “where style & performance meet,” each release features FuelCell technology, New Balance’s latest innovation included on most of its premiere running sneakers.
Though no official release date has been set just yet, the arrival of official photos indicates that they’ll be hitting shelves sooner than later. Once they do, they’ll carry a retail price of $150.
In other news for the Boston brand, they announced the start of a new buyback program and pre-owned marketplace with New Balance Reconsidered.
