Identical color blocking was spotted on a blue version.

Gum Soles And Wide Mesh Treat A Sporty New Balance 550 In “Slate Grey”

The New Balance 550 has worn countless looks ranging from animal print to Bapesta-inspired patent leather, but its core ethos will always be rooted in sport. While new interpretations help define the next chapter of the model’s growing legacy, the Boston brand hasn’t slowed in its consistent delivery of hardwood-worthy designs.

This new “Slate Grey” pair shares a color blocking scheme with an upcoming blue version, only with grey swatched out in place of blue treatments. Wide mesh on the collar and tongue presents as the shoe’s most sport-adjacent treatment, while white and grey leather lend a familiar look throughout the rest of the upper, save for a suede toe cap. Underfoot, the design is complete with a gum sole in another subtle yet fitting nod to retro basketball hardware.

Pairs are currently available now on newbalance.com for $120 via the official purchase links below. In more Boston brand news, get a first look at the New Balance 1000 “Green/Grey” anticipated to arrive later this year.
