The Nike Air Max Plus is still enjoying a hot streak that started amidst the model’s 25th anniversary last year, with the new “Drift” series and upcoming “Tiempo” pairs supplementing a steady flow of standard deliveries. Honing in on the Air Max Plus proper, this new “Rebellious Air” colorway is arguably the Beaverton brand’s most scintillating in recent memory, delivering an ensemble of vibrant colors and impactful design choices.
Right off the bat, you’re hit with a bright “Fireberry” shade at top portion of the base, which transitions into “Pure Purple” towards the midsole in a familiar gradient arrangement. The pattern gets flipped on its head on the lateral TPU overlays, while on the medial side, white treatments take over for “Fireberry” in an impactful departure. Moreover, the medial view also introduces “Volt” to the palette via the mini Swoosh, complemented by additional hits on the insoles and outsole in electric fashion. Otherwise, black treatments on the tongue, lining, mudguard, and midsole, provide an agreeable backdrop.
Given the shoe’s eccentric palette and relentless color swaps, it’s more than worthy of its “Rebellious Air” moniker. While we’ve yet to see other Air Max shoes wear the same design theme, Nike has demonstrated a tendency to execute such unique colorways across more than one model, so more “Rebellious Air” Air Max shoes could be on the horizon.
