One of the more unexpected sneaker developments of 2024 thus far has been the return of the New Balance 1000, resurrected from the archives and now back in full force. We’ve already witnessed collaborations by Joe Freshgoods and Aimé Leon Dore, all while newly surfaced GR colorways aim to re-introduce the 1999 runner more broadly. Now joining the herd is a new “Multi-Color” pair complete with vibrant accents atop an agreeable black base.
Eyes are first drawn to the orange/purple sunset gradient that hits the side profile and tongue, setting the stage for what’s to come. Stitched green accents run parallel with the shoe’s wavy overlays, while the heel delivers an imposing pop of yellow. All the New Balance branding presents in purple – a lighter shade than that of the gradient – while the rest of the shoe comes painted in black.
When it comes to materials, the New Balance 1000 hasn’t adhered to one specific composition. Collaborations and newly surfaced GR pairs have featured suede, nylon, patent leather, and TPU panels in different areas, but this “Multi-Color” iteration keeps things simple with traditional leather and mesh. A diverse palette carries the look here.
The New Balance 1000 “Black/Multi-Color” is available now via New Balance China, but we’ve yet to hear of a firm stateside drop date. Tap our Sneaker Release Dates page for all the latest updates while we learn more.
