Italy’s One Block Down Embarks On A Two-Pair Nike Air Max Plus Collaboration

Before the Air Max Plus became the most-wanted Air Max retro on the market, it was the darling of trainers across Europe. It goes without saying that a collaboration with the Tuned Air icon is a huge moment for any collaborator based in the continent, which is why One Block Down’s upcoming project with Nike might be the multi-brand retailer’s most exciting partnership yet.

Unveiled via Nike official images, the Air Max Plus appears in succinct colorway options and minor modifications to reflect the cooperative work. The Italian imprint’s logos appear in a bevy of executions on the insoles, tongue, and even the lace-tips. The construction of the running shoe is left untouched, leaving the choice of color-blocking to be at the forefront of the design.

Two options will be available this Fall; a cooling mix of Light Photo Blue and Aurora Green with silver mudguards and black soles, and a second in an earthier Chutney brown with minute touches of purple. The latter pair gets a bit more creative with the midsole as the black floods the inner moldings that house the fore-foot Air units and the front-most chamber at the heel.

Despite the Air Max Plus going through various transformations — the Vapormax Plus and Air Max Plus Drift being the more notable examples — the original form is still the most cherished of all.

One Block Down’s catalog of shoe collabs aren’t extensive, but they have impact. Their hand-beaded Vans Slip-Ons that dropped in mid-2022 were instant hits, while their “Flame Wave” project with Mizuno from last year is a sought after pair on the grey market. Their first Nike collab won’t be available until later this Fall 2024 season, so stay tuned for updates.
