The Industrial New Balance 1906A “Refined Future” Adds An “Olympics”-Esque Outsole

New Balance has never shied away from going experimental with their most sacred product. Though the New Balance 1906R is still at its apex, the success of the “Protection Pack” releases across it & the New Balance 2002R proved that additional details can take their mainline offerings to new heights. While additional iterations like the New Balance 1906L have yet to even hit the market, another retooling is joining the family, the New Balance 1906A.

As we saw on the more traditional grey & cream colorway that emerged earlier, the main motif with this offshoot model is “extension,” pulling the nylon “N-lock” ribbons through their anchoring and leaving additional fabric outside the typical overlays visible on the lateral side.

In terms of the palette at play, the upper is engulfed by a mix of neutrals any NB fan (or any sneakerhead, really) should be well accustomed to at this point. The outsole, however, flips that script entirely. Blending together vibrant red, blue & green primary colors sets up a stark contrast from top to bottom on this shoe.  Just how much the New Balance 1906A and this colorway stand out from mainline offerings showcases how Boston creatives are thinking outside the box with the future, “Refined” or not, of their products.

Specific details regarding the launch of the New Balance 1906A are scant at the time of writing. However, the appearance of official images hints that a launch is likely just around the corner. Keep this article and our Sneaker Release Dates page handy if you’re hoping to get in early on the next chapter of the 1906.
