The Comme des Garçons x Nike Air Max TL 2.5 Releases On September 21st

Comme des Garçons & Nike’s annual F/W effort is finally on the horizon. A collection we’ve known about for nearly 9 months, the CDG Air Max TL 2.5 in three trademark colorways is releasing just around the corner.

In characteristic Comme des Garçons-Nike fashion, three monochromatic deliveries of black, white and both are on tap, the lattermost pair creating a top/bottom between the two with opposing graphic stippling atop either color. The requisite dose of co-branded notes land throughout the profile, proudly stamped on the perforated heel cup and on hypnotic striped insoles.

It’s worth noting that despite the sneaker community knowing what to expect aesthetically from successive Comme des Garçons collabs in terms of palette, the fashion imprint is want to change the compositions of the models they touch. Notably, their work on the Air Max Sunder vastly simplified the upper and removed the techy shroud panels that typically define the silhouette. Here, though, the Nike Air Max TL 2.5 is left rather unadulterated, maintaining the retro runner blend of leather & mesh.

As we noted in our first look at this collab following a full fashion event reveal, this marks the Nike Air Max TL 2.5’s first time as a collaborative canvas. However, it does fit well into the general schema of Nike retro efforts, as Comme des Garçons’ work here serves a dual purpose in adding energy to the upcoming revival effort the silhouette, tipped off in the latest SNKRS showcase.

The Comme des Garçons Nike Air Max TL 2.5 drops September 21st at DSM and CDG in-store, with DSM sites also dropping stock online. Retail is set at $290. Check out detailed shots of all three colorways included just below.
