thisisneverthat now stands as arguably the most prominent streetwear force coming out of South Korea. As international recognizability increases, they’ve evidently got the right eyes on them to make waves in our world; New Balance, PUMA, Clarks, and Crocs are just some of the brands that have tabbed the imprint for collaborations. As their in-line Winter 2024 capsule comes into view, thisisneverthat is reuniting with an old partner, linking back up with Converse for another take on the One Star.
For the uninitiated, 2021 marked the brands’ first introduction, ushering in takes on the Chuck 70 and the silhouette in question. The 2024 sequel simplifies things greatly, maintaining the two-tone layout of that earlier pair but switching to matte arrangements across the upper and sole.
The guiding light is “reviving 90s street style,” accomplished primarily by planting embossed stars on the toe-box of the Converse One Star, harkening to its end-of-century composition. Otherwise, this is essentially a “what you see is what you get” shoe; suede at the collar interrupts an all-canvas upper, and the requisite black stripe is all that breaks up dominant green and white overtones.
The Converse x thisisneverthat One Star first releases via TINT via their site on November 1st, dropping at 9 PM EDT and its equivalent in Korea, the EU and China. A wide release via Converse.com follows on November 5th at 9 AM EST. Retail is set at $90 — an apparel collection, comprised of a hoodie, a pair of sweatpants, and two tees, drops simultaneously.
