Gallery Dept. And ASICS Are Teaming Back Up With A Brand New Model

After making waves with three collab pairs in 2023, ASICS and Gallery Dept. are back at it again. As we near the end of 2024, the sneakily frequent partners ensure they make one more splash, introducing the ASICS GEL-K1011 before they leave the year.

If you’re unfamiliar with that model, you’re not alone — the GEL-K1011 represents a brand-new silhouette. While at first glance it easily shuffles into the Japanese brand’s deep vertical of tech runner styles, look a bit closer to spot some of the archival influence; exposed GEL units a la the GEL-NYC silhouette or GEL-Cumulus series, a geometric panel towards the forefoot that harkens to the GEL-Nimbus line, or an overall shape and design language from the everpresent GEL-Kayano umbrella.

Breaking from the single pair cadence of previous link-ups, the two brands usher in three distinct colorways for this Gallery Dept. ASICS GEL-K1011 capsule. The first, in monochrome black and white, executes the DIY aesthetics that have defined the Josue Thomas label, with visible brush strokes that bleed onto the jet-black anchoring for a raw, unfinished atmosphere.

From there, look to the white and multicolor edition for “a classic sports-style aesthetic with retro influences throughout,” in the brand’s own words. Finally, the “beef and broccoli” colorway presents the most considerable visual divergence, dipping into the world of trail running that’s gone relatively unexplored in the Gallery Dept. canon. Though all three of these shoes execute a different style, there are nonetheless a few uniting details on them, including branded tags at the heel, custom in-soles, and spell-out “DEPT” text across the toe-boxes.

Gallery Dept. currently has EQL launches for all three pairs of its ASICS GEL-K1011 listed on their site, opening at 12 PM on December 7th. A launch via Gallery Dept. in-store takes place on December 6th, with a retailer release set for the 12th. The white-on-black pair retails for $325, while the other two command a $295 retail price.
