Aimé Leon Dore Vibes Appear On This “Sea Salt/Slate Grey” New Balance 550

The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 line was probably one of the most consequential sneaker collaborations of the past decade. Not only did Teddy Santis resurrect a model that would go on to dominate the sneaker zeitgeist, the ALD founder’s successful taste-making earned him a position as creative director of “Made In USA” New Balance footwear in 2021. While the New Balance 550 chapter of ALD collaborations is well behind us as this point, we’re getting a likeminded vintage feel from this “Sea Salt/Slate Grey” general release.

Official images reveal an aesthetic comparable to the grey ALD x New Balance 550 from late 2020, differing by way of color blocking and materials. The toe box, collar, and New Balance logos appear in perforated “Slate Grey” suede, accompanied by vintage-esque “Sea Salt” leather. Black detailing around the quarter logos adds a bit of contrast, matched by more black branding on the tongue and heel.

The “Sea Salt/Slate Grey” New Balance 550 is available now via the New Balance website, priced at $120 in men’s sizing. See our “Where To Buy” section below for purchase links.
