Matt Varga ASICS’ dominance over the tech runner market may be defined by the GEL-Kayano 14, but it’s certainly not restricted to it. The ASICS GEL-Nimbus 10.1 is an exemplar of both points, reviving an archival style with distinct influence from that totemic silhouette, borrowing its sole unit in its entrance back into the market. However, the differing upper construction leaves ample room to put space between it and its “parent model,” shown with the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 10.1.
Patently, this sort of color-drenched colorway isn’t typically the Kayano’s speed, yet the but the curvilinear, wavy design of the Nimbus’ upper makes it a perfect candidate. It results in a wide swatches of “Midnight” blue on the lateral and medial sides, while duskier overlays and tighter-knit mesh bisect the shoe down the throat. Flares of yellow at the eyestays and peering through the sole bring a palpable sense of energy to the otherwise stealthy edition, as does the chromed-out heel cup at the very rear.
