Though Jordan Brand signees famously receive some of the most eye-popping personal swag in footwear, the real rite of passage as a Jumpman hoopers is bringing your talents to the Air Jordan 1. In the past decade and change, the list of NBAers to take over the silhouette includes Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, and Rui Hachimura, each imbuing Mike’s first signature with their own personal style and/or team ties. At least in recent years, you can argue that it’s a Pelican who has done so in the flashiest fashion, and a sequel effort is on the horizon via the Zion Williamson x Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Voodoo Alternate.”
This pair is issued as a sequel to the original 2022 release, a paired colorway with the Zion 2 that homaged the Pelican star’s city with an earthy colorway and voodoo doll detailing, including exposed stitching, mismatch panels across either shoe, and skull patches. As the “Alternate” title would suggest, much of the original build specs remain for this pair, including the rope laces, inverted Nike Air tabs, cross perforations on the heel, playful insole graphics, and a double-ply heel that allows the wearer to switch between wings logos and the same “Zion/Voodoo” text from the interior. ”
The primary change, then, is the swap to a chilling blue-dominant palette, splaying royal blue, purple, and jet black across the mixed material make-up of this shoe. The original Zion x Air Jordan 1 Low “Voodoo” has only risen in secondary market pricing since its drop, so perhaps this “Alternate” gives you an easier window to get in on Williamson’s signature style anew.
