Original article published August 25th, 2025:

Anthony Edwards and adidas Basketball are currently amidst a China tour to unveil the upcoming signature shoe — the adidas Anthony Edwards 2. There, the brand and athlete officially revealed the silhouette, confirming earlier reports and first looks. Currently, a release date for the “With Love” colorway is expected in October.

Officially scheduled to release nearly two years after the launch of the Anthony Edwards 1 signature shoe, the Anthony Edwards 2 is due out in a familiar peach-heavy colorway that nods to his Atlanta roots. It features a similar mid-cut silhouette with a rubber outsole that scoops upwards to encase the foot. On a design standpoint, the second model isn’t much different from its predecessor.

According to our sources, the actual second model was scrapped due to Anthony Edwards and his team behind unhappy with the design. Instead, the model that has been established as the second shoe was actually the Anthony Edwards 3, but moved forward one model. This likely explains the near two-year wait for the signature shoe release as well as a surplus of AE1 colorways.

Now that the shoe is officially out in the open, expect more previews of Anthony Edwards shoes as the 2025-2026 season is set to begin later this Fall.

When did adidas sign Anthony Edwards?

adidas signed a then-rookie Anthony Edwards in 2020, shortly after the Georgia product headed to Minnesota as a #1 overall selection. It’d take about four years to grant the SG a signature shoe as a part of that deal, but the wait was certainly worth it. On top of landing as a paragon of the futuristic design shift within the adidas Hoops roster, the adidas Anthony Edwards 1 benefitted from Ant’s maturation into one of the most charismatic players in the NBA, something the Three Stripes parlayed with a masterful run of social media promos playing off that persona.

When do the Anthony Edwards 2 shoes release?

The adidas Anthony Edwards 1 is readily available on store shelves and adidas.com, while the sequel, the adidas Anthony Edwards 2 is set to release on October 4th in the “With Love” colorway. Rolling out through the upcoming NBA regular season, several colorways are already known to us, including a Timberwolves-approved “Blue Fusion,” landing on October 25th, just days after play begins, and a stealthy black and neon green.
