Original article published September 29th, 2025:

Names like Kith and JJJJound might resonate more with mainstream audiences, but real New Balance heads know that WTAPS is one of the brand’s most important — and arguably best — sneaker collaborators. With that being said, we’re pleased to learn that the military-inspired Japanese imprint has another New Balance sneaker dropping soon, and it’s on one of the Boston brand’s newest silhouettes.

The New Balance 2010 is the sneaker of choice, a mainline model inspired by cuts from the brand’s Made in USA line. Much like WTAPS’ work on models like the New Balance 992 and New Balance 990v6, the sneaker features a monochrome upper in shades relevant to the brand’s militaristic palette. Light green suede overlays, sage green leather underlays, and a matching mesh base come together beautifully here, complete with branded motifs on the heel and lateral side. The midsole is where things get really interesting: WTAPS highlights the model’s ABZORB cushioning with bright, almost slime-like green pods at the heel — a relatively minor choice that actually does a lot for the overarching design, injecting some extra life into the silhouette.

Based on images and videos posted by shops and buyers, it appears the WTAPS x New Balance 2010 is already starting to trickle out at retailers in Asia. No information regarding a global launch has been announced yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you up to speed on all the latest.
